DescriptionCamp Road, Trentham, 1927, showing buildings and car moving along road.
The shops were on the north-east side, and the view is from near Gower Street, looking north towards Main Road.
The boy standing by the post and the totara tree on the right is Jack Williamson (1917-Feb 2000), aged 10 at the time. The tree was still there in 2012.
The building next to the tree was the Billiard Rooms, later pulled down to make way for a Post Office.
The Tearooms was run by Mrs Williamson (Jack's mother) who also supplied the racecourse with pies on raceday. The grocery shop next door, with three steps at its entrance, was later purchased by Jack and his wife Joan (nee Menzies).
At the end of the shops heading towards the Main Road was a driveway that led to the Williamson home.
