Troops on Main Road North
Main Road, which ran from Silverstream, through Upper Hutt township, up to Kaitoke, would often have been made use of for training manoeuvres by troops stationed at camps in the area. These two photographs show both infantry and mounted troops making use of a stretch of the road below Cruickshank Road, heading north. This area is now a densely housed residential suburb but was then rural farmland.
