Description
This is part of a series of photos that were taken to document the rebuilding of the tube section of the Dunlop factory. After the initial inspection of the hot tube by the Leading Hand from the curing press, the tubes had a more complete check in the inspection area. In the inspection area the valve inners were fitted, and the tubes were placed over a conical stand and vacuumed. Vacuuming made it easier to find thin areas in the tube walls as the tube took up less space when packed, and if it reinflated, it was obvious there was a hole in it. Some minor faults could be repaired, and tubes could even have a new valve body fitted. The repair area was rebuilt as part of the upgrade.
