Description
This is part of a series of photos that were taken to document the rebuilding of the tube section of the Dunlop factory. Steam supplies were overhead, which resulted in a lot of heat loss, and made maintenance difficult. So the drainage trench on the right was enlarged to take steam and compressed air pipes, and on the left is a new trench that was cut for the cooling system. The cooling system was for when the tubes had to have the join chilled when being put into the moulds. As this was through the foundations of the original press line, the team brought in an explosives expert to break them up.
