AddBy: Brian J. Pearce29th May 2014 11:18PMThe original description was: 'Rimutaka Incline Summit; train being marshalled to go down'. This was incorrect - the train has arrived at Summit after having ascended the Rimutaka Incline on the journey from Cross Creek at the foot of the Incline. The Fell locomotives - one at the head and other(s) interspersed throughout the train - are being removed from the train. If the train was 'being marshalled to go down' [the Incline] all the locomotives would be coupled at the front of the train.
This photograph is post-1903 (when the yard was enlarged and the signal box was installed), but it was taken before the porches were added to the front of the cottages.
