Provenance

HistoryCharles Fearnley, F.N.Z.I.A., was a Wellington architect, architectural historian and photographer.
This collection consists of a series of photographs which Mr Fearnley took in Upper Hutt c1985. A covering letter to the Upper Hutt City Librarian states "I am sending you forty prints, the result of the year's collecting at Upper Hutt..." More than 40 prints accompanied the note. The prints were in three boxes, and had no identifying numbers or text.
Former Librarian David Lee-Smith informed the Archivist that Mr Fearnley was commissioned by Lee-Smith's predecessor David Archer for the Upper Hutt City Library to take the Upper Hutt photographs.
