DescriptionAngus McCurdy's property, on the north side of Te Awa Kairangi / Hutt River, upstream of the Whakatikei River, and across the river from Upper Hutt.
McCurdy started building his 'Castle' around 1898; parts such as a veranda were never completed.
Angus McCurdy died in 1941; his widow, son, and possibly a daughter, occupied parts of the house into the 1950s.
The house burnt down in December 1969.
