DescriptionOne of a set of 64 images from what must have been a mid-1950s film-strip presentation by Lower Hutt City Council on over 110 years of progress.
Original description:-
"The rivers and negotiable creeks acted as the main means of communication. Soon, farms sprang up along the river banks. In 1843, Mr Pearcy built a windmill for Mr Molesworth which was used by members of the community to grind the wheat which they had grown. (Brees, 1847)."
