DescriptionOne of a set of 64 images from what must have been a mid-1950s film-strip presentation by Lower Hutt City Council on over 110 years of progress.
Original decription:-
"Apart from the main road which had been constructed by the Company, several other tracks and roads had been built by either individual land holders to suit their own needs or by several grouping together. Many of the roads had to be corduroyed with logs over the boggy areas but by 1848 the lower valley, part of which is shown in this map, had been covered by a network of tracks and roads."
