DescriptionOne of a set of 64 images from what must have been a mid-1950s film-strip presentation by Lower Hutt City Council on over 110 years of progress.
Original description:-
"A Lower Hutt department store, circa 1907. The small general stores began to give way to more specialized shops. Soon the nucleus of the present main shopping centres developed. There was also more choice in the merchandise on sale."
