DescriptionOne of a set of 64 images from what must have been a mid-1950s film-strip presentation by Lower Hutt City Council on over 110 years of progress.
Original description:-
"For public transport there was always the bus running to centres which were not served by trains. This 'knife-board' bus was a popular means of conveying many passengers at once. Outside Valentine's Railway Hotel, 1877. Heavy goods were carted by wagons like the one on the left. The milk delivery man had a light two-wheeled vehicle (just visible behind the horses right centre)."
