DescriptionOne of a collection of photos of Upper Hutt during the late 1940s kept by Sylvia Williams, who was a young girl at the time. Her father, the likely photographer, worked on the construction of the Dunlop factory. The family may have migrated from the United Kingdom for this purpose. On their arrival in Upper Hutt they appear to have initially stayed in the Provincial Hotel after their arrival sometime in the summer of 1947-48. On the back of the photo (click on thumbnail below to view) is written: "The one and only 'local' in Upper Hutt. Licensing hour 9am - 6pm."Date Taken1947-1949Geotag[1]
