DescriptionSylvia Williams's family may have migrated to New Zealand; they initially stayed in the Provincial Hotel. From a photo taken there, they arrived in the summer of 1947-48. Her father worked on the construction of the Dunlop tyre factory, and probably took this series of pictures.
Marshall's Glass moved to Baigent's building from the corner of King and Main streets in 1963, and then to Princes Street in 1970.
The Majestic Theatre closed in November 1966. A conversion to commercial use was announced in the April 5, 1967 'Leader; the occupants were to be L Evans & Co, draoers, on the groud floor, and the New Zealand Dairy Board's herd testing and breeding records processed upstairs.
The article gave a short history of the theatre.
