History
HistoryIona Church sprouted from the seeds of a branch of St David's Presbyterian Church Sunday School which began in a private home in Exchange Street in 1934. From about 1955 services were commenced at the Oxford Crescent School. From the 1 July 1959, after approval from the Wellington Presbytery, Iona was constituted into a separate charge. As there was yet no Church building in the parish services continued in the WDFF building in King Street, where they had been recently conducted prior to the parish being formed. A manse was dedicated on 30 April 1960.
