Julie Golder "I remember that. Miss Harper is in the photo"

Annie Bretherton "Excuse my ignorance but what was a paper drive exactly?"
Lesley Harrison "Schools used to fund raise by collecting paper and cardboard. There would be a specific day the school neighbourhood would put their unwanted clean paper and cardboard out at the kerb, and school kids along with parents, used to collect it. A 'paper merchant' would pay so much by weight from memory, but I don't know what happened to it after that. We also used to do the same with bottle drives. Bottle-Os would pay for soft drink and beer bottles etc - glass of course. A yester-year form of recycling."
