The records belong to the Upper Hutt Bowling Club (Inc.). The club name has had various changes over time. According to Peter Owles in his 2012 centennial publication, the club began as the Upper Hutt Bowling Club in 1912. The Croquet Club joined sometime afterwards. In 1928 the club was incorporated as the Upper Hutt Bowling, Croquet and Tennis Club (Inc.). In 1949 the name changed again to the Upper Hutt Bowling and Tennis Club (Inc.). It was still the official name of the club in 2008. At a later date the Tennis Club was removed from the name.
However the Upper Hutt Bowling Club was the unofficial name within the Bowling section. See D5.1- Dept. of Justice letter re registered names.
The archives include records, photographs, ephemera and photographs.
