DescriptionTo quote from the client's booklet:-
"We are seen getting up the big beam that goes across the diningroom. It was cut from a whole Rimu tree, practically the entire heart wood of the tree being contained in the beam and the sap wood all cut off. Quite a large tree was needed for this, more than two feet in diameter. My brave and frisky boys are hoisting it up with a powerful tackle while I stand by to see that all goes well. The craft of building is fine training for a man. He must be able to deal with the practical details as well as create the dream which is to come true. He must harmonise in himself the worlds of necessity and the world of romance."
The beam has already been notched for the adzed beams which would support the upper floor.Date TakenSpring, 1932?
