Dunlop/South Pacific Tyres Sports and Social Club hall.
History
HistoryBuilt in 1967 as an addition to the 1949 canteen, and used for balls, Christmas socials and other events.
There are many pictures probably taken on the day in December 1967 that production finished for that year, with drinks provided for all.
Recollect has a collection of 189 pictures taken by Revelle Jackson at the 1968 Christmas party. Father Christmas was on a stage in the corner of the canteen next to the kitchen and social hall, and parents and children were queuing past the servery. An unidentified elderly man in a sleeveless pullover helped usher the children and may have passed the presents to them before they reached Santa. There are few duplications, and there must be an average of two primary-school or younger children per picture; around 400,total?
No building survives.

Location
DescriptionHall which extended the factory canteen; it was used for events such as 21sts and Christmas parties.
The hall had a flat roof, supported by zig-zag trusses which can be seen in many interior views.
There was an annexe which was a management dining room, until it was supplanted by one on the south-east corner of the canteen.
The canteen, opened in 1949, was built of reinforced concrete; in interior views the tapering uprights of the portal frames can be seen, usually in non-dancing areas; there was a kitchen and server on the south side. Coordinates[1] The site; buildings have gone.
