The threatening weather came to nothing.
In September 1981 the whole eastern side of King Street from 6-18, apart from the WDFF hall, was car-yards.
By the end of 1983 farming involvement in the building had faded, and the WDFF had decided to relinquish the building. The December 20 'Leader' reported that a group of Lions had made an offer for the property. The May 1, 1984 'Leader' announced the sale; tye King Lion Hall Society Incorporated would take the hall over on July 1. The clubs involved were Upper Hutt lions, Rimutaka Lions, Upper Hutt Lionesses, Upper Hutt Pakeke and Upper Hutt Leos.Date Taken25th December 2012
