Occupants of the corner site included Marlowes Restaurant, seen in 1998; Café Romeo, from March 2001 to March 2002, when they moved to 98 Main Street; The Gold Room, formerly in Hazelwoods; Bike Hutt, which had come from 808 Fergusson Drive, on the corner of Martin Street; and Go Cake Yourself (887-889) which came from Queen's Chambers, in Main Street; they closed for refurbishment in May 2016.
Owner Anna Schouten was pictured in the July 27, 2016 'Dominion Post' with a two-layer chocolate cake topped with a model of the National Museum/Te Papa; it would be displayed at the New Zealand Chocolate Festival in August.
