Sir Bernard Fergusson was Governor-General 1962-1967.
Colin Miller, ex RNZAF, had been involved in the Upper Hutt RSA from the 1950s; he had been a committee member, treasurer, secretary and president. He eventually became national treasurer, and was awarded the RSA's highest honour, its gold badge, on February 17, 1997.
He died on August 16, 1997, aged 72.
After Air Force training he became an accountant; in 1979 becoming the Education Department's national director of finance. 'Leader' obituary August 27.
