The church had been designed eleven years earlier, and was to be built in three stages. The first was a foyer, toilet and office block adjacent to the former tearooms; the April 10, 1979 'Leader printed an article and pictures of the opening; it would serve as a 2000-seat auditorium until a 300-seat one was built.
The auditorium shown here was the second stage. So far, $85 000 of the estimated $180 000 cost had been raised. a recent biannual church fair had raised $3 800.
There is no obvious sign of a third stage
