DescriptionHe had come to Upper Hutt as a general practicioner in 1953; at the time of writing he was teaching general practice, and an anaesthetist in Hutt Hospital; he had also been a senior rugby referee for 20 years.
His honour was bestowed for services to medicine and sport, but was primarily about his work on behalf of the Ōrongomai Marae; in 1969 he had been asked to help with fund-raising, and suggested professional help, but had wound up as chairman of the marae committee. There were several articles about the marae by him in later 1984 'Leaders'.
