DescriptionPrinted in the July 24 and 31 and August 7, 1974 'Leaders' in an Upper Hutt City Corporation advertisement announcing a $400 000 loan, and offering 'many happy returns'.
This seems to be the first picture of the appearance of the pedestrian mall, and also shows the old Australia and New Zealand Bank and the New Zealand Centenary town clock.
Hazelwoods department store's Sun trademark is visible at left.
It was used again in July 1975, which is where the original image was scanned.
