DescriptionPrinnted on the front page of the May 2, 1973 'leader'.
Designed by Gabites, Toomath, Beard, Wilson and Partners; it is made of precast concrete faced with black polished marble, and stands on a pre-cast slab.
Downer & Co's tender was $1473; the RSA contributed $600.
The memorial was 610 cm square by 107 cm high, on a base 107 x 152 cm. It has since been moved from beneath the council offices to the centre of a lawn, and now supports a 'Grandpa' statue.
