The club's first clubhouse was a house on Station Street at the corner of Martin Street; site identified on the map.
When the Station Street corner was wanted as part of Woolworths' car park, the club commissioned an architect to design a 9000-square-foot two-stortey building, with the upper floor to be rented out as a source of income. The club applied for a grant; Goolden Kiwi felt that two storeys were unjustified, and the architect designed a single-storey building; a £18 500 grant was offered, but the club would have to find $7500 to qualify; they had £5300 in hand in June 1965.
