This property was granted to James McHardie in the 1850s who built the Highland Home Inn in 1859 (on land adjacent to 662-672 Fergusson Drive, which is now the BUPA retirement home). In 1865 it was purchased by John Wilkins in March 1865 who renamed it to Railway Hotel in February 1872.
