Date1876 - 1991DescriptionJoseph Ames established the Provincial Hotel in 1876. A bush licence was granted to Joseph, and a year later to his brother Horace.
Various proprietors operated the hotel over the years. In 1889 the hotel burnt to the ground and was rebuilt. In 1914 damage was inflicted on the hotel from the neighbouring Benge & Pratt Store explosion.
In 1969 an application to change the hotel to a tavern was made. At Christmas 1991 the tavern closed. The ANZ bank is situated on the land which was once occupied by the Provincial Hotel.
