History
HistoryThese Upper Hutt Silver Plough qualifying events produced a winner who would then go on to compete at the national level.
The 1966 event was the first held in the Upper Hutt district and took place on Len Gorrie's farm in Mangaroa on 26 March. Sandy Robinson of the Young Farmers' Club was the winner.
The 1969 event was held on John Hoggard's farm in Kaitoke on 19 February.
The eponymous Silver Plough trophy itself was a model of the first European plough ever used in New Zealand (by the Reverend J. G. Butler at Kerikeri on May 3, 1820).
