DescriptionThese machines were made by Akron Standard Mold, and known in the factory as 'ASMs'; there were eventually four.
Every tyre was loaded into thee machine and inflated; then a roadwheel was applied and torque and lateral and radial forces were measured; grinders could be applied to the tread to improve a tyre's performance, and the high or low point of force could be marked.
