DescriptionJeff had started as an office boy, promoted after 3 weeks; helped to start a new branch of the Australian-owned Dunlop (New Zealand) Limited company in new Plymouth in 1945; spent 15 years at the Woolston factory as buyer, then 15 at Upper Hutt as chief buyer or comptroller (accounts differ); then running Dunlopillo, representing the company in Industries Development Commission hearings and negotiations, ending with nine months as general manager of Dunlop Slazenger.
A March 1982 article in the company magazine, 'Milespan' said he'd been promoted manager corporate affairs, in October 1981; that article said the Dunlopillo posting had preceded Upper Hutt. In March he'd also taken on the job of 'Milespan' editor.
