This meant that the well-attended public activities traditionally undertaken to mark this event, such as Dawn Service and street parades, were unable to occur. Instead, people chose to show their respect by silently standing outside their homes at dawn on Saturday, April 25th, and through creating tributes, in the form of poppies or crosses, in front of their houses.

This photo shows the fence of a house in Silverstream decorated with poppy tributes. An attached note, in what appears to be a child's handwriting, encourages people to participate in the #StandAtDawn event for Anzac Day.
