The death occurred last week of Dr. F. W. Kemp, M.D., F.R.C.S. M.C., 0.B.E, at Paraparaumu where he, was visiting. Dr. Kemp lived and was in practice at Upper Hutt for many years, and retired just before the 2nd World War from private practice. During the 1st World War, Dr Kemp served overseas with the N.Z. Medical Corps, and was awarded the Military Cross. During the 2nd World War he was attached to the Trentham Military Camp in his official capacity. He was the first Vice President of the Upper Hutt R.S.A., when they were formed in 1928-29, also was a foundation member of the Upper Hutt Bowling Club and a member of St. Hilda's Church. Many people living in Upper Hutt today was brought into the world by Dr Kemp at Nurse Lomas's Nursing Home in Russell Street, when he was the only medical man in practice in the district. Mrs Kemp predeceased him several years ago.
