My parents had their wedding reception here in February 1952
John Dunsmuir Asher-Montgomery:
I went to bible class & church there when the Baptist church brought it. There used to be a small accommodation house next door where the shops are now I had a great aunty had a wedding reception back in the day and 1st night honeymoon in the accommodation

Later than the 1930s. The NZ Motor Bodies built Ford V8 bus facing us immediately to the right of the building was of a type that first appeared in 1946.
Donna Morgan:
Very early on, my parents talked of there being regular Saturday night dances there - must have been the thirties or forties.

My great Uncles family owned/ran it at some stage St Johnsons. We had Brown Owl Crockery at our bach and at Grandmas and Aunties homes.
