A greyscale image was printed in the Upper Hutt Leader on 17/1/2001.
He was pictured on August 1, 2001 after completing the Tour de France; he was a naturalised French citizen, riding for the Credit Agricole team, and came in 139th of the 144 who finished the Tour; his first. Another 47 riders had failed to finish. 'Came in 52nd' presumably referred to the 'domestique' team.
The November 29, 1993 'Leader' reported that he had been approached by 'a prestigious Paris cycling club'; in that year he had competed in the New Zealand Post classic, coming top in the under-22 class and seventh overall. In the ten-day Tour of new Caledonia he had been second in the under-22 class and fourth overall.
The February 6, 1995 'Leader' said he had left for his second season with his club, Louison Bobet, of Brittany, and was hoping to turn professional in 1996. Although he had finished second overall in the North Island Tour and winner of the under-21 section by half an hour, he was left out of the national squad.
December 27 reported that he hoped to get an initial one-year contract with Italy's Mercatone Uno team, where as he was under 23, he could keep his amateur status; failing that, an amateur team in southern France. Contract obligations might prevent him from attending the selectors' trials in Nelson.
