DescriptionThis machine was built by Lowes Industries in Lower Hutt.
It is pictured parked in Jupiter Grove with:-
Dave Owens, Lowes Industries;
Tania Ralph, signwriter;
Rodney Dalgety, project manager;
Maurice Edwards, Fire Plans owner.
The two companies had won the tender from AusAid against competitors from Australia, Europe and the United States.
The latter two were presumably responsible for the design.
Innovations include rear seats which included breathing apparatus, which could be slipped on while a fireman was protected by his seat harness.
The tanks' flat tops had non-skid surfaces; escaping passengers could be off-loaded onto them them and move to a ladder at the front of the engine.Date TakenJuly/August 1996
