DescriptionCaption: After almost 33 years in the ownership of one family, a well known local firm, Marshall's Paint and Glass, has been sold. Retiring owner, Gerry Marshall (left) and new owner Bill Carroll.

There is a memorial plaque to Gerry and his wife Ann in the gymnasium entrance, just past the van in the StreetView.
The building's upper floor had started as a ten-pin bowling alley, which was succeeded by a series of gymnasiums, including a Les Mills branch.
In the October 17, 2015 'Dominion Post' the Lifestyle Health and Fitness Club announced it was going into liquidation; it had begun in Lower Hutt in 1990, and added Upper Hutt in 2003. The same article appeared in the October 21 'Leader'.

Gerry Marshall had started business in 1956, on the eastern corner of Main and Logan streets in October 1956, crossed main Street to the Baigent's garage building in 1963, and moved to this building in 1970; a proposed pedestrian precinct would have made moving goods difficult.
