'My father was a founding member. Started in a hut down at Moonshine (appropriate as he only drank whisky). I remember as a child helping with the opening of the first premises which were on the top floor of the building on the Cnr of Main & Logan. After a lot of fundraising the first purpose built club was erected in Logan St. The decline in dad's health coincided with the fire. The Cossie Club (love it or loathe it) was a very big part of my life growing up in Upper Hutt.'
