DescriptionThis picture shows scaffolding and the half-complete internal shuttering for the roof dome, which would be only 75 mm thick. Gaps between wall segments had been filled with concrete.
Not mentioned in the caption - three out of 6 stations where the post-tensioned cables overlapped on the outside of the walls; these had been tidied up in the October picture.The post-tensioning had been mentioned in the November 1982 article.
A greyscale image was printed in the August 16 'Leader'.
The December 16, 1980 'Leader' had reported that the existing 500 000-gallon Trentham reservoir could be drained in two to three hours at peak demand. One effect was that pressure for fire sprinklers would drop. A new pipeline would reduce loss of pressure, and a two-million-gallon reservoir would hold the recommended 24 hours' peak-demand storage.
The cleared site had been pictured in the November 23, 1982 'Leader', and almost all the 42 wall panels were pictured in place on May 10. The completed shell was pictured on October 25.
Generous rain meant the completed reservoir filled quickly, so that it could be checked for seepage; then it had to be drained and fixed.
