DescriptionA drop in the roll meant fewer opportunities for promotion, and only one new teacher had been appointed.
Mr Shields had been at the college since July 1981 as head of science, and would continue to teach science, but his emphasis would be on vocational education programmes.
He had previously been head of science at Upper Hutt College, and deputy head of Woodstock School, Mussorie, India, for three years.
