DescriptionPrinted in greyscale in the 'Leader' on December 10, 1991.
The book was first offered for advance sale in the September 17 'Leader'; information sheets were being sent out with rates demands, and orders could be placed through the library. The book was later announced in the October 15 and November 5 'Leaders'; its launch was scheduled for November 21, but occurred at the end of the month. A colour picture of the cover was included in the December 3 advertisement..
It was published by Cape Catley, of Picton, and printed by Wright and Carman, Upper Hutt; hardback, $49.95; paperback, $39.95, including postage and packing.
The writing and publication had started as a 1990 new Zealand sesquicentenary project.
The July 16, 2003 'Leader' printed a picture of Janet Doyle with a draft version of a more comprehensive index of names and places; she was offering it for inspection at Golders Cottage, so that people could add to it.
