Details
DescriptionPrinted in greyscale in the ‘Leader’ on September 20, 2000.
Transit New Zealand did not want a new major intersection, which would be needed if an unformed paper road remained, across SH2 from Norana Road. Adoption of the Norana Road extension was to be delayed while further information on control of traffic from the paper road was sought from council officers.
November 1; the extension would be designated a road; vehicular access to a Regional Council pumping station was to be arranged.
'Leader', September 5, 2001; a second application to close the paper road was made; new owners, Upper Hutt Developments Ltd expected to negotiate with Transpower over access to transmission lines and towers.
The October 10 'Leader' pictured the Norana Road extension; completion was expected by the end of the month.
It was only on January 23, 2002 that the 'Leader' printed a picture of the road, sealed and open.
