DescriptionThe play centre had begun in 1952 and was currently operating at St David's Church all, but would be temporarily moving to a prefabricated building at Fraser Crescent School.
Land at the end of Poplar Grove had been made available by the Wellington Regional Water Board.
The proposed 150-square-metre building, designed by the Nelson Education Board, had been selected from a range of approved pre-school plans; it was estimated to cost $45 000, and 80% of this would be met by Government; the play centre's annual general meeting had been brought forward from September/October to June 26, for discussion of the project.
Obviously, the project did not proceed as hoped.
