DescriptionLawyer John Burrett and Matthew Payne were convicted of plotting to kidnap Wellington businessman Bill Trotter, and sentenced to seven and five years (and concurrently, two years for possession of a sawn-off shotgun) of gaol in June 2003, with minimum non-parole periods of two-thirds. They had intended to hide their victim in the coffin-like underground bunker.

March 2, 2005; John Burrett had dropped his right of appeal against an order deporting him to England.
