A Whiteman descendant, Angela is married to Mike McLeod of Maidstone Motorcycle Centre (now Maidstone Yamaha).
She has a Bachelor of Agriculture degree and a post-graduate Diploma of Developmental Studies, which sparked an interest in the Trade Aid movement, which she joined as a volunteer in 1991, working up to local co-ordinator and buyer, and had been National Forum representative for a group of local Trade Aid shops for the last three years. She was also doing part-time accounting for a local firm.
In 1998 she joined the 'Leader' staff, and later became a city councillor.
