Bruce had resigned in mid-June 2005, and been succeeded by Paul Lambert, and an Upper Hutt Economic Development Agency had also been set up.
While with the council, Bruce had been involved in the concept and design of the Upper Hutt calendar, developed the Upper Hutt fun map and other brochures, and helped set up the Visitor Information centre.
He had helped to secure a deal for a multiplex cinema in the old Farmers building (Clouston's Building), but the council had reneged on its consent, according to the article; Bruces's resignation had been regarded by some as being on principle; he said they were not far off the mark.
Bruce and two partners had set up a new company, Page & Associates, specialising in 'strategic planning, developing business plans, customer service planning, market research, company profile building and marketing, in that order'.
The September 4, 1996 reprinted the picture; he had been appointed director, sales and marketing for Optimum Cinema Systems (Australasia) Ltd, of Silverstream, after representing them at a Queensland convention.
