DescriptionThe August 18, 2004 'Leader' announced that Peter would leave at the end of the school year, after 9 years as principal; he had come there after four years at Forest View School.

This picture was printed in colour in the 'Leader' on November 10, after the previous week's prizegiving, at which he had been officially farewelled. His hair might have been recovering from a Daffodil Day No. 1 haircut mentioned in the earlier article, but was habitually short. The article said his teaching career had started at a district high school, in Karamea.
When he started at Upper Hutt, the roll had declined to 650; the school had been focused on its academic students; now it offered many choices in which students could get involved, and the roll, limited by an enrolment scheme, was up to 1250.
After a sailing holiday, in 2005, Peter planned to be active in advisory work in education leadership.
A lady looking at the photo commented that 'Sometimes' should be added to 'A Tradition of Excellence'.
