The Passmores were descended from people who arrived on the Oriental (January 13, 1840), the Bengal Merchant (February 23, 1840) and the Blenheim (December 27, 1840; their forebears included James and Mary Brown, Upper Hutt's first settlers, and William and Mary Golder, whose son built the Golder homestead.
