DescriptionPrinted in the ‘Leader’ on May 22, 1990. The design had been described in a letter to the 'Leader' editor as 'a green striped sock on the left, a central downpipe with a U-bend, and a geometrical grey object which could be a Taiwanese land purchase deed'.
The Town Clerk, Ray Tucker, had sought permission to incorporate the logo on council stationery, and for proposals for other designs to be sought at some later time.
The new logo project had cost $10 000, and had provoked one 'leader' letter of criticism, and several councillors had not liked the result, but it would be used until something more acceptable was found.
The July 25, 1994 reported that the logo was used only on council stationery; the coat of arms and fantail were used elsewhere. Two councillors in committee suggested that the U-symbol be dropped when stationery ran out. Council voted to retain all 3 symbols.Date TakenMay 1990Geotagnot specified
