DescriptionThese two plans were printed in the May 14, 1991 'Leader'. A third version used a Whiteman's Valley site.
There were other proposals, covering the whole valley.
The stand-alone systems would have to be unusually reliable to avoid contamination of the Hutt River, or Lower Hutt's underground water supply, and odours from the aerated lagoons featured in two proposals could be a problem. The Wellington Area Health Board and department of Health would not support the discharge of effluent into inland waters.
